- Equip your preaching team
- Encourage new people and young people to speak from the front
Preaching and teaching remains a core feature of most churches. Many are also developing a preaching team – expanding the numbers of people who can speak from the front on Sunday. This expansion creates opportunities for people from all walks of life to teach from their own real life experience.
Our seminar day on 16th June will help to equip all ranges of speakers & preachers to communicate about how they have seen God work in different environments. Who from your church would benefit from this training? Who would you like to encourage to speak from the front?
Laurence Singlehurst draws on his many years of experience as a preacher and teacher, and shares the secrets he has learnt about preparing and delivering a message. He is passionate about equipping others to communicate well, so whether you are just starting out or have been doing this for a while come and be trained and inspired.
Practical tools and insights to help you communicate more effectively
We will be looking together at three areas: where can we find dynamic and relevant content, what are good communication skills, and how can we do this better? Laurence will share a preaching and teaching grid that he and other speakers use at times, and will also explore the challenge of developing a new generation of communicators: how can we see the 20s to 35s develop and give them space and a platform?
This seminar will be relevant for those who have been preaching and teaching for a lifetime as well as those who are just beginning.
The day will cover the following areas:
Session 1: Content
Where does good content come from? We will look at the content of the Gospel, and also content from our personal devotions, Scripture, thematic issues, discipleship issues and a world context.
Session 2: Good communication
What makes good communication, how does it work, what are some of the key ingredients.
Session 3: Tools and challenges
Looking at preaching and teaching tools, such as a ‘grid’ that helps you formulate your thinking. Also in this session we will also look at the challenges for young speakers, eg how you begin, and the particular challenges for young women.
